Milk St. Methuen, MA

At NEDC, we closed a strong 2022. However, it was not all sunshine, and rainbows. It was quite the opposite. We faced a number of challenges. There weren’t only bad things, there was a few silver linings as well.

Challenges/New Developments at NEDC in 2022

Challenges:

  1. Across our material supply base, and across our contractor base, we faced inflation- and continue to face inflation. Our vendors sometimes passed along double price increases over 2021. This was part of a stunning development that maybe no one could have seen coming.
  2. We, like many other companies, are hiring for certain positions. Finding good team members to join NEDC has been a continued challenge throughout the year of 2022.
  3. Lead Times are maybe the biggest challenge that we have had over the last year. We have seen some material lead times roll into an entire year. My best advice for customers is order as far ahead as you can. We have good confidence on some parts- but for some parts the lead time can be subject to random capricious increases.

New Developments:

  1. At the end of 2022, NEDC bought its first knife cutter to be able to kiss-cut more types of parts. We can knife-cut thermal pads, and other soft materials.
  2. We expanded other capabilities that allow NEDC to cut more unique parts than we could in 2021.
  3. We ended the year with 50+ great team members that continue to help NEDC steam along into the new year.
