At NEDC, thermal pads are our specialty. Our manufacturing site is in Methuen, MA. Across the pond, in the United Kingdom, there is a reputable thermal pad manufacturer. This manufacturer is called T-Global Technology. They make a number of thermal interface materials. In this blog, we wanted to discuss their Ultra Soft Thermal Pads.

What is a Thermal Pad? 

Maybe you’re picking up our website off a Google Search. If that’s the case, a great summary of Thermal Interface Materials can be found here. However, in short, Thermal Gap Pads are used as a medium to transfer heat out of an application. Thermal Pads are important because for every small increase in an electronics operating temperature it exponentially lowers the life of the electronic. For example, every 10ºC rise in an electronic will typically halve the life of the electronic. 

 How do Thermal Pads Work? 

Think of it this way, Gap Pads are placed on an electronic heat producing component. It’s similar to why you put oil in a pan to aid in cooking. This oil serves as an interface to allow the heat to escape the pan quicker, and make its way onto the food. A gap pad functions the same way, the pad wets out onto the surfaces, and transfer heat more readily. 

What do we like about T-Globals Thermal Pad Selection?

One thing you will immediately notice in T-Globals available selection is there is something for everyone. In the thermal gap pad world, there is usually not a thicker option.
