ECCOSORB® AN is a carbon-loaded, multilayer polyurethane foam absorber tailored for broadband free-space RF absorption. It’s engineered to reflect less than –17 dB of normal incident energy at frequency ranges determined by its thickness.

Key Performance Advantages

  • Lightweight and flexible construction

  • Broadband EMI reduction

  • RoHS/REACH compliant

  • Rated up to 90°C (194°F) service temperature

  • UL94-HBF flame retardant rating

Where Eccosorb® AN Used

Applications span across a wide range of RF-critical environments:

  • Anechoic and test chambers to reduce reflections

  • Antenna shrouding to improve pattern integrity and reduce backlobes

  • Mitigating crosstalk between adjacent antennas

  • RCS (Radar Cross-Section) testing support

  • Radar system testing while maintaining personnel safety

Thickness Options & Operating Frequency Ranges

Grade Frequency Range (>17 dB) Nominal Thickness Typical Weight
AN-72 > 20 GHz 0.6 cm (0.24”) 0.25 kg (0.6 lb)
AN-73 > 7.5 GHz 1.0 cm (0.39”) 0.50 kg (1.1 lb)
AN-74 > 3.5 GHz 1.9 cm (0.75”) 0.70 kg (1.5 lb)
AN-75 > 2.4 GHz 2.9 cm (1.14”) 0.80 kg (1.8 lb)
AN-77 > 1.2 GHz 5.7 cm (2.24”) 1.50 kg (3.3 lb)
AN-79 > 600 MHz 11.4 cm (4.49”) 2.95 kg (6.5 lb)

Converting Options: Waterjet vs. Die-Cutting

Requirement Best Choice Why
Thick absorber blocks or large 3D shapes Waterjet cutting Clean edges, complex geometry, no crushing of foam
High-volume thin foam parts Steel-rule die-cutting Fast, precise, cost-effective, ideal for repeated patterns

We routinely hold tight tolerances, apply pressure-sensitive adhesives, and laminate to metal or plastic carriers when required.

Surface, Handling & Mounting Options

ECCOSORB® AN features:

  • White front surface that faces the RF energy

  • Black back surface designed for mounting

  • Optional aluminum foil backing when a metal surface is not available

  • Sealed environmental versions available, including nylon-coated, polyurethane-coated, or PVC-sealed constructions with fastening options
