What Is BISCO® EC-2130?

BISCO® EC-2130 is a nickel-graphite filled silicone designed to provide both electrical conductivity and environmental protection around sensitive electronic assemblies.

It is engineered to be extremely soft, allowing it to seal uneven surfaces while establishing a reliable conductive path for grounding and shielding.

1. Extremely Soft Solid Silicone

Most conductive elastomers are firm, but EC-2130 is intentionally formulated to be very soft, allowing it to compress easily and form tight seals without high closure forces.

Its softness makes it ideal for delicate housings and assemblies requiring gentle compression.


2. High EMI/RFI Shielding Effectiveness

EC-2130 delivers strong shielding performance across multiple frequencies, making it suitable for demanding RF environments.

Typical shielding effectiveness:

  • 110 dB at 100 MHz

  • 120 dB at 600 MHz

  • 130 dB at 1 GHz

  • 130 dB at 10 MHz

3. Wide Operating Temperature Range

Silicone’s inherent stability allows EC-2130 to perform reliably in extreme conditions.

  • Operating range: –62°C to +200°C

From cold-soak applications to high-temperature electronics, the material maintains flexibility and electrical conductivity.


4. Environmental Sealing Capability

Because EC-2130 is soft, and solid (not foam), it forms effective barriers against:

  • Moisture

  • Dust

  • Particulate intrusion

  • Environmental exposure

Compression set remains low (10% max), offering long-term sealing integrity even after extended compression. Ths works for different IP rating applications. 


5. Nickel-Graphite Conductive Filler System

EC-2130’s nickel-graphite filler system provides:

  • Low volume resistivity (< 1 ohm-cm)

  • Stable electrical grounding paths

  • Consistent EMI/RFI protection

6. Thermal Conductivity

With a thermal conductivity of 3.33 W/m·K, EC-2130 offers notable heat-transfer capabilities, useful for assemblies that generate heat while also requiring shielding and sealing.
