We’re back with another behind-the-scenes look at how things work here at New England Die Cutting (NEDC). This time, we’re showcasing one of our most versatile tools—the waterjet cutter.
Waterjet cutting allows us to produce some of the most complex gaskets and parts you can imagine. Whether it’s thermal pads, RF absorbers, or custom gaskets, our waterjet delivers clean, precise cuts every time.
What We’re Cutting: Silicone Rubber from INTERSILICONE
While the waterjet is in action, we’re cutting a general-purpose silicone rubber manufactured by INTERSILICONE in California. The specific material is IST-26, a durable silicone used in gasketing and other high-performance applications.
This type of silicone is ideal for environments where temperature resistance, flexibility, and long-term sealing are required.
The Finished Result: High-Complexity Gaskets
Once the cut is complete, we get to show off the real advantage of waterjet technology: clean, complex cuts with no tooling required.
Whether you’re working on a prototype or need a production run of intricate gaskets, our waterjet can handle tight tolerances and unique designs without sacrificing material integrity.
Need Help with a Complex Gasket Project?
If you’re working on a design that requires precision cutting, especially for unusual shapes or challenging materials, our team can help.
