eccosorb gds, die-cut
NEDC die-cut RF absorbers all the time. In one blog, we discussed Eccosorb MCS in a blog early in 2020. One of the more popular materials that we die-cut for customers that require RF absorbers is Eccosorb GDS. Between Eccosorb GDS, and Eccosorb MCS, they probably represent an even split between Eccosorbs that are the most popular for NEDC.
Properties of Eccosorb GDS
It’s important to note first of all, there are two different types of Eccosorb GDS. One is flame retardant certified to the UL 94, well the other one is not.

Eccosorb GDS is a silicone rubber based material that is filled with iron materials to impart its ability to absorb RF waves. As a reminder, RF absorbers attenuate RF waves that become present in electronics. They are typically electrically insulating/non-electrically conductive. Below I have added some good selling points that other RF absorbers don’t typically have.
-Low Outgassing with qualified ASTM E595 data, 1.00% TML, 0.10% CVCM
-Good Absorbing qualities in a frequency range of 18 GHz and above.
-Max Service Temperature 338°F

-Security, and Defense Applications such as Radar, Threat Detection
-Automotive, and other Industrial Electronics
More Information/Die-Cutting/Waterjet Cutting
This material comes in a matte black/gray color indicative of its highly filled nature. These materials come in a 12’’ x 12’’ sheet format for ease of die-cutting. NEDC die-cuts, and waterjet cuts it for customers in the form of customer shapes, and sizes. Thicknesses include .020’’, .030’’, .040’’ and thicker.
